How do I run a car service history check?

Enter your UK registration above. We retrieve official service records logged by franchised dealerships in the manufacturer's own system, plus full DVSA MOT history. Reports arrive in minutes by email. Your card is authorised but not charged unless we find records. Every other route, free and paid, is in our guide to how to check a car's service history.

How It Works

Three Simple Steps

1

Enter Your Registration

Type in your vehicle registration number (VRM) — it takes seconds.

2

We Check Official Records

We query manufacturer dealership databases — the same systems used by franchised dealers.

3

Receive Your Report In Minutes

Most reports land in your inbox within minutes of payment — full digital service history, ready to download or print.

Supported Brands

Manufacturer Records

We access service history data directly from manufacturer dealership systems — covering most European vehicles from 2012 model year onwards.

Full Service History

(18)

Itemised dealer records: the date of each franchised visit, the odometer reading, what was done and which dealer did it.

Workshop Remarks

(12)

Entries come from recall and warranty work rather than routine servicing, so they rarely list what was serviced. Visits that fall about a service interval apart still suggest the car was being looked after at the dealer.

Limited Coverage

(13)

The dealer system answers for only a minority of these cars, and often briefly. Whether anything comes back depends on the individual car.

Why Trust Us

Verification, not guesswork

Service history is only useful if the data is real. Here's what we do — and don't do — to keep it that way.

Official manufacturer systems, not scraped data

Records come from the manufacturers' own service systems — the ones franchised dealerships log their work in — through our data provider. Nothing is scraped: the records you see are the records a main dealer would see.

Honest about what we can and can't find

2 in 3 of the vehicles we check return official records. If a car has only been serviced at independent garages, those records usually aren't in manufacturer systems — and we tell you that upfront, not after payment.

You don't pay unless we find records

Your card is authorised at checkout but not charged. If we find nothing, the authorisation is cancelled — not refunded, never taken. No refund admin, no waiting for money to come back.

Coverage grows with the manufacturers

Full dealer records for BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen and many more — plus partial coverage (workshop remarks or limited data) for many others. New brands added as manufacturers open their systems. Tier shown for the entered VRM before you spend.

Pricing

It happens more often than you think. If your vehicle has been serviced at a franchised dealership, the records are stored digitally — even if you've lost the physical service book.

The factory build sheet lists the exact paint name and code, interior trim, gearbox and every option fitted — typically well over a hundred entries. Check the spec free, or add the build sheet to any service history check for £2.99.

Transparency

What We Don't Check

We believe in being upfront about what our service covers — and what it doesn't.

Independent Garage Records

We only access franchised dealership systems. Services performed at independent workshops are not included in our reports.

Car Valuations

We don't value cars. Our optional car check covers finance, stolen and write-off records (data provided by Experian), not what the car is worth.

Keeper Details

The service history check doesn't include keeper history. The optional car check shows how many previous keepers a car has had, but never who they were.

Warranty Claims

Manufacturer warranty claims are tracked separately from service records and may not appear in our reports.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Enter your registration number on this page to check your car's service history online. We retrieve official records directly from manufacturer dealership databases — showing every service visit logged by franchised dealers, including dates, mileage readings, and work performed. Results are typically delivered within minutes.

  • A car service history check looks up a vehicle's servicing record from official manufacturer and franchised dealer databases — the date, mileage and work carried out at each visit. It is not the same as the MOT record, which only shows test results and advisories. We return the service history for a UK car by registration or VIN, and your card is not charged if no records are found.

  • Enter the registration or VIN above and confirm the vehicle we find. We then search official manufacturer dealership records and email the report, usually within a few minutes. There is no account to create, and if no service records are found you are not charged. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see our guide to checking a car's service history.

  • We cover 45 manufacturer brands across three coverage levels:

    Full Service History (18 brands)

Audi, BMW, Cupra, Ford, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Porsche, SEAT, Skoda, Toyota, Vauxhall, Volkswagen

    Workshop Remarks (13 brands)

Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dacia, Dodge, Fiat, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Peugeot, Polestar, Renault, Volvo

    Limited Coverage (14 brands)

Aixam, Alpine, Bentley, DAF, DS, Ferrari, Honda, Iveco, Maserati, MG, Piaggio, Subaru, Suzuki, Yamaha

If no service history is found for your vehicle, your card is not charged — regardless of the brand's coverage level.

  • Reports are typically delivered to your email within minutes of payment. In rare cases, it may take up to a few hours depending on the manufacturer system response time.

  • No. Your card is authorised at checkout but not actually charged. If we find service history we capture the payment; if we find nothing we cancel the authorisation — you're never charged, no refund admin. Not all vehicles have electronically recorded service history, particularly older models manufactured before 2012.

  • We access data directly from Original Equipment (OE) manufacturer databases — the same systems used by franchised dealerships. This means the records are official and verified. MOT data comes directly from the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).

  • A full service history check costs £9.99 for a one-off report. However, your card is authorised but not charged unless records are found — so you only pay when we find data. You can also check a vehicle's MOT history for free on the DVSA website, though this doesn't include service records.

  • No. A car history check covers finance, insurance write-offs, and stolen vehicle markers. A service history check focuses specifically on whether the vehicle was serviced at manufacturer dealerships and what work was recorded. For finance, stolen and write-off records we also offer a separate Car check, using data provided by Experian. It costs £8.00 added to a service history check, or £12.99 on its own. It comes with Experian's Data Guarantee (up to £10,000 for 12 months; Experian's terms apply).

  • No. For a standard one-off check, you simply enter your vehicle registration, your email, and proceed to payment. No account is required. Dealer accounts are only needed for the discounted dealer programme.

  • The dealer programme offers motor traders a discounted per-check rate. Sign up for a free dealer account to get started. Once registered, you get access to a dashboard where you can run checks and view your full check history.

  • Yes. We use Stripe for payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant) and do not store your card details. Your email and vehicle details are only used to deliver your report and are handled in accordance with our privacy policy.
