10. Free Vehicle Tools and Our ChatGPT Plugin

Our free tools – MOT history, known problems for a model, and the manufacturer service schedule – can be used on this website and, through our plugin, inside ChatGPT.

What we receive
When you use them we receive the vehicle registration you enter, or the make, model, year, fuel type and engine size you give. Through ChatGPT we receive only what ChatGPT sends us to answer your request. We do not receive your name, email address or ChatGPT account details, and requests reach us from OpenAI's servers, so we do not receive your IP address either.

What we do with it
We look the registration up with the DVLA and DVSA to answer the request.
We keep the registration in a list of vehicles that have been looked up, so that the free page for that vehicle (findservicehistory.com/check-mot-history/ followed by the registration) can be opened and shared. That page is public and shows the vehicle's MOT record, the known problems for its model and its service schedule – no personal data. The list holds the registration, when it was first and last looked up, how many times, and which tool was used – nothing about who looked it up. It is kept indefinitely, so that links people have shared keep working.
We keep lookup statistics – the make, model, year, fuel and engine of the vehicle and which tool was used, but not the registration – to see which vehicles need more research. They contain no personal data and are kept indefinitely.

Who receives it
The DVLA and DVSA, to look the registration up, and the hosting and database providers that run our website. We do not share it with anyone else and we do not sell it.

Your controls
To have a registration removed from the list of looked-up vehicles, and its free page withdrawn, email hello@findservicehistory.com. How OpenAI handles your ChatGPT conversations is covered by OpenAI's own privacy policy.
