Honda service history check — official dealer records

Check Honda service history online from official Honda dealership records, found by UK registration and delivered in minutes. £9.99 — card authorised but not charged unless we find records.

Honda coverage last reviewed: June 2026

The short answer

Can you check Honda service history online?
Yes, where Honda's dealers have logged the work. Franchised Honda workshops record each visit against the car's VIN, and we read that record from the registration for £9.99 — if nothing is on file, your card isn't charged. Honda is in our Limited Coverage tier. The dealer system answers for only a minority of these cars, and often briefly. Whether anything comes back depends on the individual car.
Is there a free way to check Honda service history?
Only if you own the car: a franchised Honda dealer can usually print the record, though some charge a small fee and you'll need proof of ownership. A buyer needs a paid check. MOT history and recorded mileages are free for any car.
Does Honda service history stay with the car when it's sold?
Yes. Honda's record is held against the car's VIN, not the keeper or the number plate, so it carries over to a new owner and survives a private plate.

What a Honda report can look like

Manufacturers don't all keep the same detail, so reports come in four shapes. We've opened the one you're most likely to get. Every entry below is made up; a real report lists the Honda's own visits.

When only a little comes back: for some makes the dealer system answers for a minority of cars, and then briefly. You may get one or two visits with a date and a reading. If nothing comes back at all, the card isn't charged.

Honda and its dealer records

Honda is a Japanese manufacturer with a strong UK presence. The Civic, CR-V, HR-V, and Jazz are popular models. Honda dealership records are sourced through OneAutoAPI's German feed, so UK-registered Honda vehicles return data only in a small proportion of cases.

For a full walkthrough, read our Honda service history guide.

How Honda's digital service record works

Honda UK uses the Honda Motor Europe dealer management system, which logs all franchised UK Honda dealer visits against the VIN with date, mileage, service type, line items, and dealer code. However, our manufacturer data source primarily provides full Honda record coverage for vehicles registered in Germany — UK-registered Honda records are returned only in a small proportion of cases through this lookup. The MyHonda+ app (now Honda Connect) shows recent services on supported newer cars. For the most reliable UK Honda service-history retrieval, contacting an authorised UK Honda dealer directly remains the most thorough option — though for many UK Hondas our lookup will retrieve at least some data.

Where to find your Honda service history

A car's history is usually spread across a few places, and it is worth checking each one.

  • Honda's dealer system. Every franchised Honda workshop logs its visits against the car's VIN. A Honda dealer will usually print them for the owner; anyone else, a buyer included, can use the check on this page.
  • The Honda owner app, where there is one. Newer cars linked to an owner's account may show recent services there, but only to that account holder.
  • The paper service book. Stamps from dealers and independent garages alike. If it has been lost, a replacement from the manufacturer arrives blank.
  • Independent garage invoices. Work done outside the dealer network only exists on paper, so ask the seller for the folder.
  • The MOT history. It doesn't record services, but its free odometer readings show whether the service mileages make sense.

Want every route side by side, free and paid? Our guide to how to check a car's service history covers them all, with figures from 5,563 real checks.

Servicing a Honda: intervals and models

Honda service intervals

Honda services every 12 months, with the mileage set by the engine — the current e:HEV hybrids' schedule is 12 months or 6,000 miles. Models fitted with Maintenance Minder, including the turbo petrols, adjust the interval to actual driving conditions rather than a fixed distance, with a 12-month limit.

Intervals vary by engine, model year and schedule type — check the car's own handbook or service plan for the figure that applies to it.

Honda models we cover

All UK Honda models in principle covered, though data return rate is low: Jazz (GD / GE / GK / GR inc. e:HEV hybrid), Civic (Mk7 / Mk8 / Mk9 / Mk10 / Mk11 inc. Type R), CR-V (Mk4 / Mk5 / Mk6 inc. e:HEV hybrid), HR-V (Mk1 / Mk2 / Mk3 inc. e:HEV), ZR-V, e (electric, 2020-2024), e:Ny1 (electric SUV), NSX (Mk2 supercar), older Accord (Mk7 / Mk8), Insight, Stream, FR-V. The British-built Civic from Swindon (2003-2021) and CR-V have particularly large UK populations.

Things to watch when buying a used Honda

Two Honda-specific things to know: First, because our UK Honda data return rate is low, a 'no records found' result doesn't mean the car wasn't serviced — it often means the records exist at the dealer but aren't exposed through our German-centric feed. For high-value purchase decisions, requesting records directly from an authorised UK Honda dealer is a useful additional step. Second, where our lookup does return UK Honda data, it includes the same workshop remarks (recall completion, warranty repairs, service activities) that other Workshop-Remarks-tier brands provide.

Why check Honda service history before buying

Honda resale value is sensitive to documented dealer history despite our limited lookup coverage — the brand's reliability reputation makes verifiable maintenance proof particularly valuable. For high-volume Civics and CR-Vs, even partial workshop remarks support meaningful resale value. For NSX collectors dealer history is mandatory at the premium end of the market. We recommend supplementing our lookup with a direct dealer query for high-value UK Honda purchases.

Free ways to see Honda service history

If you're the keeper, Honda dealers can often print the history for you, and the owner app may show recent visits. A buyer usually can't use either. Our free Honda guide explains each option and what it shows.

FAQ

Common questions about Honda service history

How do I check Honda service history online?

Type the car's UK registration into the form on this page. We ask Honda's dealer system for every visit logged against that car and show them in date order, usually within a few minutes. It costs £9.99, and the card is only charged if records come back.

How complete is Honda coverage?

Honda sits in our Limited Coverage tier. The dealer system answers for only a minority of these cars, and often briefly. Whether anything comes back depends on the individual car.

Where is a Honda's service record kept?

Honda UK uses the Honda Motor Europe dealer management system, which logs all franchised UK Honda dealer visits against the VIN with date, mileage, service type, line items, and dealer code.

What will I see on a Honda report?

Honda records come back less often than for most makes, and when they do they tend to be brief: a date, a reading and a short note. Plenty of Honda checks find nothing at all, which is why the card is only charged when something is found. The car's full MOT history is in the same report, so you can compare the service mileages with the readings taken at each test.

Why might a Honda with a stamped service book show no records?

Usually because the servicing was done at independent garages, which don't write to Honda's system, or because it was done before the dealer network kept digital records. A book full of independent stamps can be perfectly genuine; it just has to be backed by the paperwork rather than by the dealer system. If we find nothing, your card isn't charged.

Do I need the owner's permission to check a Honda?

No. The UK registration is all we need: no log-in, no ownership documents and no contact with the seller. That's why people use it before they buy, to compare what the seller says with what Honda's dealers recorded.

How do I tell whether a Honda was serviced on time?

Put the dates and readings side by side and look at the spacing. Honda services every 12 months, with the mileage set by the engine — the current e:HEV hybrids' schedule is 12 months or 6,000 miles. Intervals differ by engine and model year, so the handbook has the exact figure for a given car. A gap much longer than the schedule is worth asking the seller about: it may have been an independent service with an invoice in the folder, or it may have been missed. The MOT readings in the same report fill in the mileage between visits.

Is there a free way to see Honda service history?

Sometimes, if you are the keeper. A Honda dealer will often print the history at the service desk if you bring the car's documents, and some Honda owner apps show recent visits for the car linked to your account. Neither helps a buyer looking at someone else's car, and we know of no public Honda website that shows the whole record. Our £9.99 check needs only the UK registration, and the card is only charged if records are found.

Can I check Honda service history online?

Honda falls under our Limited Coverage tier in the UK. Our data source provides full Honda records only for vehicles registered in Germany; UK-registered Honda records are returned in a small proportion of cases. No charge if no records are found.

Why is Honda UK coverage limited?

Our manufacturer data source classifies Honda as full coverage for Germany only. Honda UK does not currently share dealership service records through the same digital feed, so UK Honda lookups return data only when records happen to exist in the system. For high-value UK Honda purchases, supplement our lookup with a direct dealer query.

What Honda models could be covered?

In principle all UK Honda models: Jazz, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, ZR-V, e (electric), e:Ny1, NSX, plus older Accord, Insight and Stream. In practice the data return rate is low because of the manufacturer-feed structure.

What does Honda do if my lookup returns nothing?

A 'no records' result doesn't always mean the car wasn't serviced — it often means the records aren't exposed via our feed. For high-value purchases, contacting an authorised UK Honda dealer directly is a useful additional step to retrieve official UK records.

What about Honda models for the e and e:Ny1 electric cars?

Where data exists, electric Honda models have battery health check entries alongside standard service entries. The 8-year battery warranty depends on these being completed at a Honda dealer.

Will I be refunded if no Honda records are found?

Your card is not charged if we cannot retrieve any service records for your Honda.

How to read a Honda service history

A list of dealer visits only helps if you know what to look for. Three checks cover most of what goes wrong with a used Honda's paperwork.

Line the visits up against the schedule

Look at the spacing between visits rather than the number of them. Visits roughly a schedule apart point to a car that was looked after. A long gap is a question for the seller, not a verdict, because the service may well have been done at an independent garage.

Make sure the odometer only goes up

Each visit records the reading on the day. With the MOT test readings in the same report, a figure that falls back, or one that doesn't fit between the tests either side, stands out at once.

Ask about the years the dealer didn't see

Dealer records stop once a car leaves the franchised network. For those years, ask for the invoices from the garage that did the work and check that the dates and readings on them fit with the rest of the history.

How payment works

  1. At checkout your card is authorised for £9.99, not charged.
  2. If we find Honda dealer records, the payment is taken and the report opens.
  3. If we find none, the authorisation is released. There is nothing to refund, because nothing was taken.

The car's MOT history is part of the same report. The link to your report keeps working, so you can come back to it or send it to someone else.
