A 'Bentley Bentayga Hybrid Engine Timing Chain Kit 3.0 V6 TFSI EA839' product (S8, fetched) lists named chain, tensioner and chain-guide part numbers sold specifically for the 2020-2025 Bentayga Hybrid's petrol engine, and the EA839 3.0-litre unit's own technical spec (S7) independently states it is 'driven by a timing chain'. No Bentley document gives a replacement interval or interference status.

The EA825 4.0 V8's own technical spec (S6, fetched) states 'four overhead camshafts... driven by a timing chain'; a genuine 'Bentley Bentayga Continental Rocker Arm Set (32) 4.0 V8 TFSI EA825' listing (S9, fetched) confirms the EA825 code and its overhead-cam/rocker-arm valvetrain are fitted to actual Bentley cars, not just Audi/Porsche. No Bentley document gives a replacement interval or interference status for the chain.

Chain drive; no replacement interval published. The 2012 Continental GT V8 is '3993cc', 'a development of the engine Audi has fitted to the S6, S7 and S8' (C-S17). Bentley's OE diagram 'Camshaft Sprocket, Drive Chain, Tensioner - Chain' for the Continental GT (2011-2018) lists timing chains and chain tensioners for 'cylinders 1-4' and 'cylinders 5-8' plus camshaft sprockets (C-S19) — eight cylinders, so the V8, with the chains on the camshaft sprockets (camshaft test). Laser Tools sells the matching Audi 4.0 TFSI tool kit 'so the camshaft drive chain can be safely removed and replaced' (C-S18). No belt part found. Interference not stated. Oil/brake fluid/plugs/fuel filter/coolant/cabin filter below are copied verbatim from this file's existing Bentley brand-schedule entries (bentley.json S1/S2, which cover Continental GT/GTC/Flying Spur/Bentayga with no engine split — the EA825 entry previously listed these very Mk2 V8 cars).

Bentley's own Menu Priced Service and dealer parts pages carry no belt-related item anywhere for the W12 family. No Bentley document gives a replacement interval or interference status.

Chain drive; no replacement interval published. Bentley's OE 'Timing Chain, Guide Rail' diagram for the Bentayga (2015-2020) lists a drive chain, a timing chain, three chain tensioners, five guide rails, a sprocket and an intermediate wheel and no belt (C-S39) — the only petrol engine in the Bentayga before the 2018 V8 was this W12. Bentley's spec: '4x overhead camshafts, dual cam phasing, 48 valves' (C-S37). The earlier W12 generations are chain-driven too (bentley.json S10/S11). CAPACITY/YEARS: 5,950cc for the 2016 Bentayga (C-S37); 'For the launch of the Bentayga in 2015, the W12 was completely redesigned from the sump up', the current W12 powers Continental GT, Bentayga and Flying Spur, and production was to finish in April 2024 (C-S36). That the Mk3 Continental GT and Flying Spur use the 5,950cc unit is DERIVED from C-S36 (it names them as users of the redesigned engine); no fetched source prints a cc figure for the Mk3 cars. Interference not stated. Evidence: a genuine OEM chain part (07D109503A) sold as part of a 'Complete timing chain kit for 4.0 W8 and 6.0 W12 engines' (S10, fetched) is separately stocked by Flying Spares — a Bentley/Rolls-Royce-only specialist (S11, fetched) — confirming it is a real Bentley-fitted part, not just a VW Phaeton/Audi A8 part. Bentley's twin-turbo W12 (2003-on) shares the base W12 architecture/valvetrain of the naturally-aspirated VW Phaeton/Audi A8 W12 that S10's kit fits; no document found states Bentley redesigned the camshaft drive when adding turbos. No Bentley document gives a replacement interval or interference-engine status for the timing chain — see unresolved.

Gear-driven camshafts

Single camshaft in the block, driven by GEARS from the crankshaft; no replacement item. Introcar (UK Rolls-Royce/Bentley parts specialist): 'the Rolls-Royce V8 employs a gear-driven arrangement', 'the camshaft drive gear [is] exactly twice the diameter of the crankshaft gear' (C-S40); motor-car.net: 'gear-driven camshaft' (C-S41). CAVEAT: both sources describe the L-series V8 up to the Arnage (which ran to 2009); neither states the cam drive of the re-engineered L410HT in the 2010-2020 Mulsanne, which added variable cam phasing (C-S41). Top Gear (2020) confirms the Mulsanne unit keeps 'two valves per cylinder driven by pushrods on a single camshaft' and the original bore and cylinder spacing (C-S42). Gear drive for the 2010-on engine is therefore the family's documented arrangement carried forward, not a Mulsanne-specific statement.
