How Dacia records service data
Dacia UK uses the Renault Group dealer management system (Dacia and Renault share the same network and back-end). Workshop remarks held against the VIN typically include recall completion, warranty repairs, and service-schedule-aligned activity at franchised UK Dacia / Renault dealers. Coverage is digital from approximately 2013 onwards when Dacia launched in the UK (Duster Mk1 came first, then Sandero Mk2). The MyDacia app shows recent services for newer cars; the dealer system holds the complete record. Records persist when a Dacia is serviced at a Renault dealer (and vice versa) because they share the same database.

Sandero Stepway), Duster (Mk1 / HM, Mk2 / HJD), Logan MCV (estate, until 2020), Jogger (J04), Spring (electric — UK launch 2025), Bigster (from 2025). Coverage strongest from 2013 onwards (Dacia's UK launch). Pre-2013 Dacia models were not sold in the UK.
Dacia-specific things to know
Two Dacia-specific things to know: First, Dacia's value proposition relies on relatively basic powertrains shared with Renault — the 0.9 / 1.0 TCe petrol and 1.5 dCi diesel engines are the most common. The 1.5 dCi has well-known timing-chain and DPF issues in older Renault-badged variants; the same engines in Dacia tune have similar concerns — verifiable oil-service interval discipline is the best mitigation. Second, Dacia warranty is 3 years (extendable to 7 with Dacia 7 Year Extended Care) — servicing at a Dacia or Renault franchised dealer is required to maintain extended warranty eligibility. Third, the older 1.6 SCe petrol has timing-belt service requirements that are sometimes missed.
Why check Dacia service history before buying
Dacia resale value is sensitive to documented dealer history despite the budget-brand positioning — partly because of the 7-year extended warranty programme and partly because of the shared-engine reliability concerns. Workshop-verified service compliance typically adds 8-10% to trade-in over partial-history equivalents. Duster buyers should look for any AWD-related service entries on 4x4 variants. Sandero Stepway and Jogger buyers should verify the timing chain / belt service entries on the 1.0 / 1.5 dCi engines.
