Mazda tyre pressures

Mazda Mazda6 tyre pressure

The tyre pressures Mazda prints in its handbook for each Mazda6 tyre size, by generation — Mazda6 (GJ/GL) (2012–2023) and Mazda6 (GH) (2007–2012). Find your tyre size on the sidewall, then read across.

Notes from the handbooks
  • 225/55R17 97V: Mazda prints this as 'Up to 3 persons' (front/rear) and 'Full load' (frontLaden/rearLaden); 1 person = about 75 kg. Winter (M+S) tyres of this size use different (higher rear) pressures printed separately in the handbook.
  • 225/45R19 92W: Mazda prints this as 'Up to 3 persons' (front/rear) and 'Full load' (frontLaden/rearLaden); 1 person = about 75 kg. Front pressure must be raised for sustained high speed on some engines (e.g. +20 kPa (0.2 bar, 2.9 psi) above 210 km/h (131 mph) on the SKYACTIV-G 2.5) — the handbook lists the increase per engine and body. Winter (M+S) tyres of this size use different (higher rear) pressures printed separately in the handbook.
What the handbooks don't say
  • Pre-2015 editions (2012-2014 GJ) not read; the model-year 2016, 2017 and 2019 European editions agree on these figures.

Mazda6 (GH) (2007–2012)

The handbook lists these sizes but prints no pressures for them — use the label on the car.

What the handbooks don't say
  • No GH Mazda6 handbook found on Mazda's manual host. Sizes and pressures not recorded.

Figures marked "Maker's handbook" link to the maker's own document. "Reported" figures are the maker's, read from a copy we could not get from the maker directly. A figure marked ≈ has been converted from the unit the handbook prints. Nothing here has been checked against your car: if it disagrees with the label on the car, the label wins.

Tyre pressure questions

What tyre pressure should a Mazda Mazda6 have?

It depends on the tyre size and, on some versions, the engine. For the sizes Mazda lists, the normal-load pressure is 33 psi (2.3 bar) at the front and 33 psi (2.3 bar) at the rear. Find your size in the tables above, and check the tyres cold.

What size tyres does a Mazda Mazda6 take?

Mazda fitted the Mazda6 with 225/55 R17 and 225/45 R19, depending on the generation and trim. The size is printed on the side of your tyre; the pressures above are listed by size.

Where is the tyre pressure label on a Mazda Mazda6?

On most cars it is on the driver's door pillar or inside the fuel filler flap. It normally gives the same figures as the handbook, which is where the ones on this page come from — if the two ever disagree, go by the label on your car.

When should I use the fully laden pressures?

When the car is carrying a full load — every seat taken, a full boot or a trailer. For everyday driving use the normal figures.
