Measured at MOT: how a 2020 3008 fails more often
Based on 35,375 first MOT tests of this model at 6 years old (cars first used 2018–2019), compared against every car of the same age and fuel.
Nothing stands out. No category fails clearly more often on this model than on cars of the same age and fuel.
How to read this
These are MOT outcomes for other cars of the same model, age and fuel — not a prediction about this one, and not a fault diagnosis. A high rate means the category is worth checking, not that this car has a problem.
A comparison is only shown where it survives its own margin of error. Where a model is only slightly above average, both rates are shown and no multiple is given, because the data cannot tell the difference.
MOT results reflect how a car has been used and maintained as much as the model itself. High mileage, short journeys and deferred servicing all show up here.

Recall: starter motor relay could overheat
A part inside the starter motor relay on a range of Peugeots built between May and October 2016 may not meet specification. It can upset starting and let the starter motor overheat, and in extreme cases there is a risk of fire. The recall checked the relay and replaced it where necessary.
Applies to: 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 508, Expert and Traveller built 15 May – 12 October 2016
Recalls apply to specific vehicles by VIN — check with a Peugeot dealer or the DVSA recall checker.

Recall: starter motor supply wire can chafe and short
On a range of Peugeots built from October 2013 to July 2017, the starter motor's supply terminal may be wrongly positioned and rub against nearby parts, risking a short circuit. Two recalls checked and repositioned it and replaced any damaged parts.
Applies to: 308 Mk2, 3008, 5008 and 508 built 2 October 2013 – 17 July 2017
Recalls apply to specific vehicles by VIN — check with a Peugeot dealer or the DVSA recall checker. DVSA lists the 308 as the T9 (Mk2) only.

Recall: cooling software could let the engine overheat
The engine's electronic cooling control and its temperature warning threshold could let the engine overheat on some 308s, 3008s, 5008s and 508s built between 2012 and 2015, with a warning light and message on the dashboard. The fix was new engine management software.
Applies to: 508 built 2012–2015, 308 Mk2 built 2013–2015, 3008 and 5008 built 2014–2015
Recalls apply to specific vehicles by VIN — check with a Peugeot dealer or the DVSA recall checker. DVSA's notice does not name the engine.

Recall: engine could overheat (software update)
Some 308s, 3008s and 5008s built between 2016 and 2018 were recalled because the engine could overheat and, in extreme cases, fail. The fix was new engine management software.
Applies to: 308 Mk2 built 2017–2018, 3008 and 5008 built 2016–2018
Recalls apply to specific vehicles by VIN — check with a Peugeot dealer or the DVSA recall checker. DVSA's notice does not name the engine.
- Recall · StellantisBrakes
If it has the Stellantis 1.2 PureTech turbo 110/130 (EB2DT / EB2DTS): Recall: belt debris can block the brake vacuum pump
Material shed by the timing belt can get into the oil and block the brake vacuum pump, which reduces brake assistance. The brake pedal then needs far more effort. This was a DVSA safety recall: dealers update the detection software and inspect, and if needed replace, the vacuum pump and timing belt.
Applies to: Stellantis 1.2 PureTech turbo 110/130 (EB2DT / EB2DTS) (petrol), built 2013–2017

Electrical faults, from parking brake to tyre sensors
Electrical problems are the biggest cause of trouble on the first 3008. Reported faults include the electronic parking brake showing error messages when nothing is wrong, an erratic tyre pressure monitor (faulty valves or calibration) and failed LED daytime running lights, which mean taking the bumper off to replace.
Applies to: 3008 Mk1 (2009–2016)
Tyre pressure sensors came with the higher Exclusive trim, so that part applies only to cars that have them; DVLA does not record trim.

If it has the PSA/BMW 1.6 THP / VTi petrol (EP6 'Prince'): 1.6 petrol ('Prince'): timing chain stretch and oil use
The 1.6 THP turbo and VTi petrol, developed with BMW and also used by MINI, has weak timing chain tensioners, and the chain can stretch and in the worst case fail. Listen for a rattle at idle or from cold, and a stutter when accelerating. Earlier engines can also burn oil, so check the level and the service history.
Applies to: Peugeot, Citroën and DS with the 1.6 THP or VTi petrol (EP6 'Prince' family), mainly engines built before 2014
DVLA does not record whether a 1.6 petrol is the THP turbo or the non-turbo VTi; Parkers puts both in the same 'Prince' engine family.

Measured at MOT: how a 2013 3008 fails more often
Based on 18,185 first MOT tests of this model at 13 years old (cars first used 2011–2012), compared against every car of the same age and fuel.
Nothing stands out. No category fails clearly more often on this model than on cars of the same age and fuel.

These describe the model, not one car. Plenty of cars never have the problems their model is known for, and a recall may already have been done on yours. Every problem links to its sources; a reported problem needs two independent publishers before we list it.

Common questions
What are the most common 3008 problems?
For cars built from 2012, the problems at least two independent publishers report include: Panoramic glass roof can leak; Glitchy infotainment and warning lights; Electronic handbrake faults; Electrical faults, from parking brake to tyre sensors; 1.6 petrol ('Prince'): timing chain stretch and oil use. Which apply depends on the generation and engine — they are listed generation by generation above, each with its sources.
Has the 3008 been recalled?
Yes. DVSA lists recalls for the 3008 built from 2012, shown above by generation. A recall covers a range of chassis numbers, so not every car is affected — check a specific car by VIN on GOV.UK, or by registration with our checker.
Does my 3008 have these problems?
Not necessarily. These describe the model; many cars never have them, and a well-maintained car is less likely to. Enter your registration above to see the problems for your exact generation and engine, and whether DVSA records an outstanding recall on it. Whether a known problem was fixed is what a service history check shows.
Has this 3008 had the work done?
A known problem matters far less on a car whose dealer records show it was fixed. A service history check returns the manufacturer's own dealership records for a specific car — and there's no charge if we find nothing.
