Recall: brake bar weld could break (2025 cars)
On some C3s and C3 Aircrosses built in spring and summer 2025, a weld on the brake bar could break, causing a complete loss of braking. When the recall was issued there was no fix yet; owners were advised not to drive, and the repairer arranges replacement transport.

Recall: brake pedal pin may be missing or loose
A pin in the brake pedal bracket connection may be missing or incorrectly assembled, and if it falls out the brake pedal could disengage. Cars built from May to November 2025 were checked and reworked where needed.

Recall: alarm can go off by itself when locked
A weakness in the body control module software can make the alarm siren go off at random when the car is locked. Cars built from January 2025 to February 2026 were recalled for a software update.

Recall: starter motor relay could overheat
An internal part of the starter motor relay may not meet specification. It can upset starting and let the starter motor overheat, and in extreme cases there is a risk of fire. Dealers checked the relay and replaced it where necessary.

Recall: steering column bearing or joint not to spec
Two small recalls affected the steering of 2018-built C3s. On some, the crimping that stops the steering column bearing moving sideways may be wrong, causing noise and play in the steering and eventually a malfunction; on others, the clamp bolt of the column’s universal joint was not seated correctly. Dealers checked and refitted or replaced the column.

If it has the Stellantis 1.2 PureTech turbo 110/130 (EB2DT / EB2DTS): Recall: belt debris can block the brake vacuum pump
Material shed by the timing belt can get into the oil and block the brake vacuum pump, which reduces brake assistance. The brake pedal then needs far more effort. This was a DVSA safety recall: dealers update the detection software and inspect, and if needed replace, the vacuum pump and timing belt.

Recall: Takata airbags — stop driving until replaced
The driver and passenger airbags in second-generation C3s and in DS3s use Takata inflators whose chemicals can deteriorate with age, so an inflator can rupture in a crash and cause serious injury. In 2025 owners were told to stop using affected cars as soon as it is safe until the airbag modules have been replaced, free. Parkers puts the number of affected cars in the UK at about 120,000; buying one without the work done means buying a car under a stop-drive notice, which can cause insurance problems.

Recall: front suspension wishbone bolts can break
On C3s and DS3s built in October and November 2013, the bolts holding the front suspension wishbones may not have been made to specification and could break. Noises from the front and poor directional control are the warning signs. The recall replaced the bolts on about 3,100 cars.

Recall: ABS unit may not stop a wheel locking
In emergency braking or when the stability control intervenes, the braking system’s hydraulic block may not stop a wheel locking, which could affect control. About 800 cars built in April 2016 had the hydraulic block replaced.

Material shed by the timing belt can get into the oil and block the brake vacuum pump, which reduces brake assistance. The brake pedal then needs far more effort. This was a DVSA safety recall: dealers update the detection software and inspect, and if needed replace, the vacuum pump and timing belt.

Front suspension knocks: worn drop links, broken springs
The second-generation C3’s suspension gets noisy as it wears. Front anti-roll bar drop links fail and knock over bumps (a cheap repair), and front coil springs can snap with age and pothole impacts — a car sitting low at one corner is the giveaway. If a spring has broken, check the inside edge of the tyre too.
